About Hillstar Construction

Hillstar Construction is a small, owner-operated remodeling company in Los Angeles, founded by Lior Mazor in 2010.

Lior didn't come to construction from sales or management. He came up through the trade — starting as a helper on jobsites, moving up to foreman, and eventually becoming a partner at the company that trained him. He learned the work the way it actually gets done: in framing, in finish, in the kinds of problems you only see after a wall comes down. Today, Lior brings more than 35 years of hands-on construction experience in Los Angeles to every project Hillstar takes on.

The company is intentionally small. At any given time, Hillstar takes on two or three projects — usually one large remodel and one or two smaller jobs. The reason is simple: Lior runs every project himself, and he isn't willing to spread his attention thin. He's the one walking the site, sitting with the inspector, and reading every change order. He's particular — about the details, about the order in which things happen, about making sure the homeowner always knows what's next.

The work that pulls him in most is remodeling — particularly older Los Angeles homes, where the real challenge lives behind the walls. Every house has its surprises. What makes a remodel succeed isn't a polished bid; it's a contractor who can solve problems as they appear, and explain them honestly to the homeowner along the way.

That close relationship with clients is what has kept Lior in this work for so long. A remodel is a long thing to live through, and a homeowner deserves to know what's happening at every stage. When a project ends and the homeowner is glad they did it, that's the only measure that matters to him.

That's the company Lior set out to build in 2010 — and it's the company he runs today.
